When I was done writing my book I was relieved, but then the question of "what's next?"
Clueless, I submitted it to three publishers and then waited, and waited and waited some more. In the meantime, life took over and I found myself back on the roller-coaster.
Four months later I received some feedback, which was to join writer's critique groups, polish my writing and improve the story flow. So, depressed and defeated at the time, I took a break.
Two months later I joined https://www.goodreads.com and found various community groups and Beta Readers! I love them! My first beta reader was Bethany! She gave me specific feedback in the first ten chapters and I also provided her with necessary feedback on the first part of her manuscript too.
T.C. Dougherty was the second one to offer advice. She thoroughly read my entire manuscript. She offered gently edits, made me question and rewrite several areas to show and not tell. Thank you TC!!
After a few weeks of Beta Reading, I perused more groups and found a few people offering editing services. Some were offering free service, and I sent my manuscript to one; however, haven't heard back. Leary of that! :( However, after persistence, I found Sharon! She's fair and responds quickly to email. I am in the process of having her do some line-editing; so I'll let you know. Sharonumbaugh@gmail.com; highly recommended!
